Under most circumstances, you will be able to spend the majority of the examination and echocardiogram with your pet. It is our belief that the animal human bond helps ease your pet through the experience. Our goal is to make your family member’s visit as safe and comfortable as possible. Most pets do not need more than your comforting touch but on occasion, a light sedative may need to be administered. During the exam and echocardiogram you will be provided with information on your pets heart function. A standard cardiac evaluation will last around 1-1.5 hours but depending on diagnostics this may run longer. At the end of your visit we will explain the diagnosis, prognosis and treatment recommendations for your pet. We will email you and your primary care veterinarian a full case summary along with copies of any diagnostics performed.
Before your appointment
We ask that you contact your pet’s primary care veterinarian to fax or email any medical records, radiographs, lab work and current medications to our office at the time of your appointment. Any records that cannot be emailed or faxed should be brought in with you on the day of your examination. In addition, we encourage all our clients to fill out our new client form online or arrive 10 minutes before your appointment to fill out in hospital.
